Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Memphis! Three tracks are offered to obtain a Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science.
Clinical Laboratory Science – M.S.
- Laboratory Management Track
The post-professional program is designed for certified medical technologists and cytotechnologists who are interested in pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Sciences with specialization in management. Clinical laboratory scientists have an opportunity through this non-traditional program to obtain a graduate degree while continuing to practice full-time. Students in the laboratory management and laboratory utilization tracks enroll in a common core of research, education, laboratory issues courses.
- Laboratory Utilization Track
The post-professional program is designed for certified medical technologists interested in specializing in the proper utilization of clinical laboratory data for improved patient outcomes and cost effectiveness. Clinical laboratory scientists have an opportunity through this non-traditional program to obtain a graduate degree, while continuing to practice full-time. Students in the laboratory management and laboratory utilization tracks enroll in a common core of research, education, laboratory issues courses.
- Advanced Practice Track
The program is a career entry-level curriculum for students with a B.S. degree in biology or chemistry and desire to enter a career in the clinical laboratory. The program provides the necessary educational experiences for the student to qualify for national certification as a medical technologist/clinical laboratory scientist and to apply for a Tennessee license to practice as a clinical laboratory professional. In addition to their B.S. degree requirements, qualified students must have successfully completed with a “C” or better the specific courses required for medical technology.
