We are excited to offer you a great opportunity to family physicians who desire further training in rural emergency medicine and the ability to become board-certified in emergency medicine thru AAPS (American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc.).
Our hospital serves 17 counties, with an annual ED volume of over 80, 000 visits. There are over 65 rooms including trauma, ortho, GI and fast track. The ED has a full-service trauma service available 24 hours a day for additional opportunities in procedural training.
The fellowship enables the family physician to sit sooner for the AAPS Board Certification in Emergency Medicine. The requirement is 12 months of graduate training plus 12 months of practice experience. Therefore, the family physician is eligible for board certification through AAPS after an additional one year full-time work in an ER setting.
Four positions are offered each academic year. The family physician who is offered one of these positions will work 14 (12 hour) shifts in our ER and 2 (8 hour) shifts in our clinic as a preceptor to our residents and a work in doctor per month.
The salary is $74,000 which also includes additional benefits of professional liability, health insurance, as well as time for CME.
Requirements for application include: 1) Completion of ACGME approved Family Medicine residency program, with a letter from your Program Director Documenting training 2) ABFP certification or eligibility 3) ACLS and PALS certification. We will assist in ATLS and ALSO certification 4) At least two letters of recommendations.
