Recording Your Leave

All vacation and sick days must be entered into the New Innovations system under Duty Hours. (Effective 7/1/08)

Vacation

Vacation for first year residents is 14 days plus the last week of June (unpaid leave) and 21 days for PGY-2, 3 and 4 residents. In addition, each resident is given 6 days off either during the Christmas or New Years Holiday.

Effective 6/23/08 - Vacation is 21 days for PGY 1, 2, 3, and 4 residents. In addition, each resident is given 6 days off either during the Christmas or New Years Holiday.

Educational Leave

Educational leave is one week and must be approved by the Program Director.

Sick Leave

Sick leave is 21 days and is granted in accordance with University policy.

Maternity Leave

Maternity leave (normally 4 weeks) is available to residents for the birth or adoption of a child. Sick leave and annual leave may be used in order for the resident's salary to continue. Additional time is permitted with the approval of the Program Director and will be leave without pay. Due to APDIM rules, taking additional time off will/may delay completion of the residency.

Paternity

Paternity leave is 7 days. This time may be expanded by using vacation days.
