For PGY1s, these scheduled calls will be either night float or ICU call. The PGY2 call is either in the ICU or night float. PGY3s will take night float or MOD call, and may also take ICU call occasionally. The back-up call system is utilized when a resident or intern is unexpectedly unable to take a scheduled call for serious health or personal reasons. In this situation, the resident or intern on back-up call will be asked to take the call.
