Over the last several decades considerable research has been conducted on the issue of teaching excellence. The Carnegie foundation has sponsored much of this research and the result has been the establishment of numerous teaching excellence centers at college and universities around the country.

The following items provide a summary and synthesis of what research and practice in the psychology of teaching and learning can tell us about what it takes to be an excellent teacher in the health professions.
